Tuesday Trigger: Feather Weather + Simon Says . . . Anything Goes!

Cath at Moxie Fab World has given us another great inspiration photo for the Tuesday Trigger: Feather Weather.

My eye was immediately drawn to the colors of the birds, so that is where I started with this card. I used green, yellow & blue inks to create a watercolor panel and then mounted a white three window panel over it.

A wood veneer bird is nestled in the corner of each window and a die cut branch adhered along the edge.

A tag caught in the branch holds one of my favorite Technique Tuesday stamps and a little white fiber finishes it off.

Because Simon Says . . .  Anything Goes! over at Simon Says Stamp this week, I am also linking this card up there.

Paper Smooches + Simon Says

Paper Smooches Sparks challenge blog has a Picture Perfect challenge this week. Let's just say all I saw was a rainbow of color in this photo!

Display our button

I pulled out my stamps and was immediately drawn to the "thanks" in the Chit Chat set because I knew I could rainbow color the letters.

At first I had the rainbow of diamond/chevron/arrows circling the sentiment stamped on the white panel, but there was too much awkward white space - not the good kind of white space.  I cut the sentiment into an oval and mounted in on dark grey cardstock (I know it looks black in the photo, but it is Smoky Shadow) and then arranged the chevrons again - much happier with this version!

Because Simons Says . . . Anything Goes at Simon Says Stamp this week,  this card is also being linked up there.

I'm off to prep Greek Salad for 200 - somehow dear husband's company Open House has ended up on the same night as dear son's 8th Grade Promotion. Why can the calendar be relatively quiet for weeks and everything converges into a couple of days?!

Papertrey Ink May 2013 Blog Hop

Nichole's challenge for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop this month is to use one of her Bouquet Builder color schemes to create a floral project. All the color schemes are gorgeous, but this inspiration photo really jumped out at me.

2-Shades-of-Pink-Bouquet

My plan was to create a stamped bouquet with the Happiness in Bloom stamp set, but after a few frustrated attempts I gave up and started playing with the Beautiful Blooms II #1 die set instead.

My tissue paper buds are created by folding pieces cut with the smallest die. I have one of the multi-color packs of tissue paper from Michaels and was pleasantly surprised to find almost all the colors I needed - the only ones I didn't have were Hibiscus Burst and Ripe Avocado.

The banner & sentiment are from Bountiful Banners and the leaves are cut from one of the Lovely Layers dies. You can see that foam adhesive helps add a little extra dimension to my big pink bloom.

I hope you have something fun planned for your weekend!

Muse #18 + CASology Royal

Marion Vagg is the Muse at the Muse Challenge with this card.

I had a hard time stepping away from the idea of using flowers, but don't have any stamps that really captured the feel of this bright spring card. In the end I pulled out my Quilt Prints stamp and worked with the layout and color elements.

My thinking was that I would color in some pieces to mimic the flowers and others to mimic the leaves - I'm not sure I pulled it off.

My card for the CASology Cue Card: Royal challenge came together much quicker.

As soon as I saw the cue word,  I pulled out my beloved Tim Holtz Blueprints stamps (have I mentioned how much I love these stamps LOL?) and made this card with the Queen of Hearts.

I deliberately left the sentiment vague as I like have a few flexible cards in my stash - thank you, happy birthday or congratulation could all be added to the inside.

We are heading to the school production of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers tonight which means I will be driving my kids nuts singing show tunes for the next couple of days.

Casology Bloom + Simon Says Flower Power

I am lucky enough to have a neighbor with a gorgeous hibiscus in full bloom, so that inspired me to  pull out my MFT die when I wanted to work on a few "Thank You" cards this morning.

This card is being linked to both the Simon Says . . . Flower Power at Simon Says Stamp and the CASology Bloom challenges.

Tuesday Trigger: Right on Target Card Set + Muse #17 & CASual Fridays 101

First up today is my card for Muse #17 and the challenge to be inspired by this sweet card from Therese Calvird.

I am a complete sucker for googly eyes and this one has eyelashes! As much as I wanted to, I could not find a stamp in my collection that would work with google eyes, so I focussed on a repeat of the image and the word banner to create this card that may go to my daughter when she gets her driver's permit.

I stamped the bug on designer paper and then die cut the image (LOVE how easy it is to this with Tayored Expressions dies!), colored in the tires and fussy cut out the windows. I will admit I didn't see the CAS-ual Fridays post until after I finished this card, but am still going to link it up to their challenge to stamp on designer paper.

Next up is a card for the Tuesday Trigger: Right on Target at Moxie Fab World. I love the colors and asymmetry of this image.

Quite quickly, the Nestabilities Circle dies were out and I was trying to figure out what direction I wanted to go,

In order to get the color profile I wanted, I cut six sets of circles from designer paper. Because of the way I planned to make this card, I was going to end up with enough pieces to make another five cards. Since Cath also has a Card Set Challenge going on at Moxie Fab World, the full set and gift bag are being entered in that challenge.

Once I had my targets assembled, I made a pattern to cut the circles in 6 pieces of varying size. The pieces were shuffled and circles recreated.

Alternate pieces are popped up with foam adhesive and a jeweled brad placed in the middle.

Banners were inked and stamped with either "Thank You" or "Celebrate Today".

Using the same Simple Stories paper line, I made a gift bag to hold the cards.

Make It Monday #116 + CASology + Simon Says

The Make It Monday challenge at Capture the Moment comes from Betsy Veldman this week. You can check out her tutorial here, but the challenge is to use a tool to create texture to a stamped image.

I pulled out my Lovely Layers stamp set and spied this mesh pencil holder sitting on my desk.

After a few practice rounds I finally had a couple of images I could live with and quickly put this card together.

The CASology Cue Card this week is Bloom and Simon Says . . . Flower Power over at Simon Says Stamp so I will be linking up to both those challenges as well.

Fusion #6 Inspiration Photo + Paper Smooches

I managed to get my second Fusion #6 card finished and photographed before the deadline!

I used the colors and mug image from the Fusion Inspiration Photo and paired that with the Paper Smooches Designer Draft. The highlighted links will take you to the details for these challenges.

This thank you card is going in the pile for the kids' teachers.

The cups are adhered with foam adhesives at different heights to allow them to stack nicely.

Fusion #6 Make a Wish

For this card, I chose to use the sketch only from the Fusion Card Challenge.

The sentiment banner is just adhered to the border strips across the top. I love the way these Squiggly border nestle into each other.

I am working on another card for the photo inspiration part of the challenge, but time is running out and I wanted to get this one linked.

MFTWSC123 French Country Anniversary Card

At noon eighteen years ago I walked down the aisle to wed my sweetheart and it has been a wonderful, fantastic adventure ever since!

I used the My Favorite Things weekly sketch to make this card - you can find all the details of their challenge here at Splitcoast Stampers.

I loved this sentiment from the You Make My Day stamp set and knew I would use it on an anniversary card.

The papers are from Graphic 45's French Country and I made sure to line up the text panel so "mon amour" and "amour" were clearly visible.

With Simon Says . . . Things With Wings this week, I am also linking this card up at the Simon Says Stamp challenge blog.

CAS-ual Fridays #100 Take Two

I am popping in with a quick post while my dear children fight over whether carrots go in salad and dear husband is grilling something for dinner. I'm the head cook in our house, so always enjoy an evening off for Mother's Day.

As CAS-ual Fridays is celebrating their 2nd Birthday and 100th Challenge it only seemed appropriate to make a birthday card.

CFC100: Each square represents one of our top 10 challenges.
Choose any row and combine those themes to create your Clean And Simple project.

I took the challenges from the 1st vertical row for this card: polka dots, square card and birthday.

Hope everyone is enjoying a great weekend and doing some fun.

CAS-ual Fridays #100

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge is celebrating a couple of milestones - their 100th Challenge and their 2nd Birthday!

I'm glad this is a two week challenge as I've finally had a bit of time to play along.

CFC100: Each square represents one of our top 10 challenges.
Choose any row and combine those themes to create your Clean And Simple project.

This card uses the themes in the middle horizontal row: square card, bling and text.

I made a graduation card for one of my nieces - her school colors are purple and gold and I hope the glitter paper satisfies the "bling" requirement for the card.  The text background was created in Word & I am really pleased with the way it turned out!

The die cut numbers look like they are floating, but are adhered securely with foam tape.

I hope to finish off a couple more cards for this challenge before the week is out.

Jacquie

Tuesday Trigger + CASology & Retrosketch

It's always a good day when I have time to make a couple of cards.

First up is one for the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger: Pretty Little Petits Fours. I am so glad this was a three week challenge, because I'm really happy with the card I made.

I inked white shimmer cardstock with Spun Sugar distress ink to make my "Petits Fours" squares and topped them with vellum flowers. A touch of color is added with Copic markers and the centers are silver micro beads.

The shimmer squares sit on a wood embossed panel that is attached to a silver shimmer card base.

This second card is based on the current retrosketch and the CASology cue word "hexagon".

I really liked the saturated colors and hexagon panel on the CASology Design Team member Tracey's card which led me to this creation.

This was a very fast card to make - both the hexagon panel and the sentiment flag are popped up with dimensional adhesive.

Carpool duties are calling me, so I have to run!
